The open-source mapping engine room is running hot - three community controller mappings in a fortnight Every time a new controller ships, someone in the Mixxx community sits down to make it work with free, GPL-licensed software. This fortnight there are three efforts running at once, at three different stages. The furthest along is a Reloop Mixon 4 mapping with full LED feedback, now open for testers. A Pioneer XDJ-XZ mapping has reached a tagged v1.0. And barely three weeks after the Numark Party Mix III hit shelves, a thread is already open to build one for it - though in the interest of clarity, that one is a call for collaborators right now, not working code yet.
This is the quiet half of open-source DJing: unpaid, incremental, and the reason a Mixxx user’s hardware shortlist is not dictated by whose logo loads on the display. If you own any of this gear, the testers-welcome threads are where to jump in.

DJCU2 sets out to carry Djay Pro’s fluid beatgrids into other apps DJCU2 - the public beta of the Mac-only library-conversion utility DJCU - adds a genuinely useful trick: it can carry Algoriddim Djay Pro’s fluid beatgrids across when you move a library into another app. Beatgrid work is some of the most tedious prep for DJs, so making it portable lowers the cost of switching ecosystems.
